WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM SUNDAY TO 8 PM EST MONDAY

Winter Storm Warning issued January 24 at 12:33AM EST until January 26 at 8:00PM EST by NWS Boston/Norton MA

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 13 and 19 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Connecticut, central, eastern, northeastern, southeastern, and western Massachusetts, and northern and southern Rhode Island.

* WHEN...From 7 AM Sunday to 8 PM EST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.

* INSTRUCTIONS...If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST THIS MORNING MUCH OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND

Cold Weather Advisory issued January 24 at 12:30AM EST until January 24 at 10:00AM EST by NWS Boston/Norton MA

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 15 below Much of southern New England.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Connecticut, central, eastern, northeastern, southeastern, and western Massachusetts, and northern and southern Rhode Island.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM EST this morning.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.

* INSTRUCTIONS...Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

.DISCUSSION...

An arctic front will bring gusty winds and dangerously cold wind
chills late tonight into Saturday. A coastal storm will bring
heavy snowfall Sunday afternoon into Sunday night.

Minimum relative humidity values expected to be 25 to 40 percent
Saturday and 45 to 60 percent Sunday morning.

.OUTLOOK...Monday through Thursday...

Occasional light snow will continue Monday then it dries out by
Tuesday as high pressure builds in. An arctic airmass will remain
across the region through Thursday. We will be watching another
coastal storm to the south Thursday.
